Melissa, a native Houstonian, has been a real estate agent for six years. She holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree from the University of Houston. Prior to selling real estate, Melissa’s career path took her from cooking at Brennan’s and The Four Seasons Hotel to teaching elementary school in the Houston Heights.

During all of her previous jobs, Melissa counted on her real estate savvy to make her a second income. She took advantage of a market she lived in and knew – the Houston Heights. Melissa renovated and resold a series of homes in the Heights and other inner loop neighborhoods. Finally this hobby grew into a full-fledged real estate career – in addition to helping clients buy and sell their homes, Melissa is a partner in Bungalow Builders, which seeks mainly to find good homes  and lots on which to do spec renovations & new construction.

“My goal is to help my buyers find a place where equity can be built reasonably quickly – sometimes this is achieved through renovation or other improvements, or sometimes it’s  simply a function of being the first and most persistent agent to at the doorstep of an under priced home. Good deals don’t come along everyday, but my goal is to find them first.”

Melissa is an excellent resource for people looking to sell their homes as well. As a contractor, she has access to all of the trades one may need to get their home in selling condition
or take care of any repairs that may come up on an inspection report. “This is just an extra dimension of experience and assistance I offer my clients. Moving is difficult enough – I
try to be as resourceful as I can be to make their sale hassle-free.”

Melissa joined forces with The Reyna Group and took on a working partner, Gina Abbott, in 2007. “Moving to the Reyna Group was the perfect choice for me. Gina Abbott is a native Houstonian who grew up riding bikes and playing softball in Southwest Houston.    She has a BS in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in Communication from the University of Houston, where she taught Public Speaking and Business & Professional Speaking for two years as a graduate student.  For ten years, she worked for Lyondell Chemical and ExxonMobil, where she represented Fortune 100 companies, negotiating sales contracts and exchange agreements globally.  At these companies, she learned the finer points of negotiation in a pressured environment.   Now she applies those same skills in real estate transactions to lead her clients to the winning side of the deal.   In 1999, she began investing in the restoration of Heights homes.  Gina believes it was a natural progression to begin selling real estate full-time, as her family of origin has been building homes in the Heights, Meyerland, Sugar Creek and Bellaire since the 1950s.  She truly enjoys getting to know her clients and always goes the extra mile to take care of her clients’ needs.
